📍 About Bentley Restaurant & Bar
Bentley Restaurant & Bar is an award-winning, two-hatted Sydney restaurant known for its dark, moody atmosphere and refined take on modern Australian dining. It’s the kind of place that feels perfect for a romantic dinner or special occasion, with an intimate setting and carefully curated menu. While it sits firmly in the fine dining price range, the experience reflects the quality, creativity, and consistency behind each dish. During my visit, I opted for the seasonal tasting menu, which delivered a series of thoughtfully curated courses — some standout, others more subtle — but overall a memorable dining experience.
👉 Note: This visit was in 2019 — menus and pricing may have changed since.

🍽️ The Tasting Menu Experience
During my visit, I opted for the seasonal tasting menu ($180 at the time), which offered a variety of dishes across multiple courses.
Highlights
- Olive Oil Ice Cream – unique and easily my favourite dessert
- Kingfish – melt-in-your-mouth texture and beautifully balanced
- Cavolo Nero – crisp, flavourful, and unexpectedly addictive
- Marron with Onion Broth – perfectly cooked, rich and full of flavour
- Wagyu Rib Cap – standout dish, tender and cooked to perfection

Mixed Notes
- Dessert was generous, but could have been simplified (a little too sweet overall)
- The veal dish felt slightly underwhelming compared to the rest
🍰 Dessert
Dessert was creative and well-executed, with a mix of textures and flavours across the plate. The olive oil ice cream stood out the most — rich, smooth, and something a little different. While everything was beautifully presented, the overall sweetness may feel slightly heavy if you’re not a dessert person.
🥂 The Atmosphere
- Dark, moody, and intimate setting
- Ideal for date night or special occasions
- Ambient lighting (can feel quite dim depending on your preference)
👍 The Good
- Creative and well-executed dishes
- High-quality ingredients
- Consistent presentation across courses
- Professional and friendly service
- Vegetarian options available
👎 The Not So Good
- On the expensive side (as expected for fine dining)
- Some dishes were less memorable than others
- Very low lighting may not suit everyone
💡 Is Bentley Restaurant & Bar Worth It?
If you enjoy fine dining and appreciate creative, well-presented dishes, Bentley Restaurant & Bar is definitely worth experiencing at least once. While not every course was a standout, the overall experience, atmosphere, and level of execution make it a strong choice for a special occasion in Sydney.
