Sun Siyam Iru Veli- The Perfect Honeymoon Accomodation in the Maldives
I just recently got married (Yay me!) to my amazing best friend who I have been very happily in a relationship with for just over 7 years now. However, when it came down to deciding where to Honeymoon we struggled for a bit. When we came across a deal at Sun Aqua Iru Veli in the Maldives, we couldn’t say no! The package for 6 nights included all your meals; breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as afternoon tea, unlimited drinks; alcoholic and non-alcoholic and much more. Not to mention your transfer to and from your island resort is via Seaplane! All this (plus some more inclusions) was around AU$5,200 for 2 adults!
Arriving to our resort was such a smooth and relaxing process. An ‘Ambassador’ will greet you on arrival and sit you down with a glass of bubbly. They will go over details of the resort with a map showing you where everything is, what time each meal is served etc. They will also help you plan your itinerary for all the things to do for the duration of your stay so you literally don’t need to lift a finger!
Tip: When you book your honeymoon in the Maldives, make sure your stay comes as a package with food and drink included as it is really expensive at the resorts.

Sip on Cocktails all Day
This is your chance to catch up on some sun tanning and why not indulge in a few cocktails? They are absolutely delicious and they’re free! (As long as you book in a package deal to include food and drink) My husband was hooked on the Iru Veli Colada! YUM!
Go Snorkeling
Have a break from your break and embark on a snorkelling safari. There are bountiful beautiful reefs all around and there is a saying, ‘there’s always plenty of fish in the sea!’ If you’re lucky you can spot other marine life such as sting rays, turtles and reef sharks!
Jet Ski
Another bonus addition in our Honeymoon package was a free Jet Ski ride. No more words needed here- the photos say it all. A special thanks to my hubby for tipping us over!
Ride In A Seaplane
The island resort was quite far from Malé, the capital of the Maldives, so a Seaplane transfer was part of our package! It was my first time riding in a Seaplane and my experience was incredible. You get amazing views of all the other islands and resorts and even from up above the colour of the ocean will blow you away. Try and find a resort that incorporates Seaplane transfers into your package.
Enjoy A Romantic Private Dining Experience
You can’t have a Maldives Honeymoon without a romantic dining experience! I was spoiled one night with a surprise private dining experience and it was so romantic! I was giddy with happiness and couldn’t wipe the smile off my face all evening. It was a really lovely moment watching the sunset while holding my hubby’s hand at the table, clinking wine glasses and toasting to our new marriage.
Take in the Beautiful Sunsets
The beauty of being on your Maldives Honeymoon is that you have lots of free time! So make sure you take advantage of your time and enjoy the sunsets from different vantage points on the island. There’s nothing else like a Maldives sunset in the world!

I went with a girlfriend about 30 years ago – we were one of the few non-couples there. And then I went with the family about 6 years ago – we had a ball. They dug a table into the sand on the beach and we had the most amazing dinner. And the bar had shark feeding at sunset so the kids would feed the sharks while my husband and I relaxed on the daybed.
