Sydney is an incredible city to see and easily one of the best places in Australia to explore when you visit. Being a stunner of a city, you’ll no doubt be on the search for some of the best views in Sydney.

Let’s not forget, Sydney is home to some of the most iconic landmarks in the world. Plus, it’s home to some of the most impressive beaches in Australia, too.  Also, you don’t have to scale to dizzying heights to find a good viewpoint as there are loads of places that offer some of the best views in Sydney and you won’t have to necessarily climb even one step!

With that in mind, I wanted to share some of the best views in Sydney for you to see.

1) Sydney Harbour Bridge

Best Views in Sydney- Sydney Harbour Bridge

The Sydney Harbour Bridge is a fantastic viewpoint offering one of the best views in Sydney.

You can opt to walk/cycle across the bridge offering amazing views of the Sydney Harbour and the Sydney Opera House.

There’s also fantastic views from the Cahill Expressway, the Sydney Harbour Bridge Climb, a helicopter flight or even walking to the top of Pylon lookout.

2) The Rocks

The Rocks is another fantastic spot offering some of the best views in Sydney. The walk along Hickson Rd is beautiful and the cobbled laneways offer a variety of old historic pubs to choose from. You can also join a walking tour of The Rocks and learn all about colonial history of this little suburb.

3) Mrs Macquarie’s Chair

One of my all time favourite places to experience a sunset in Sydney is from Mrs Macquarie’s Chair. This spot is easily accessible from the Royal Botanical Gardens (just follow the path along the foreshore), you won’t find a better viewpoint to watch the sun go down.

If you’re looking for some new things to see and do in Sydney then make sure you check out my post on The Ultimate (7 Day) Sydney Itinerary.

4) Sydney Opera House

We all love an epic panoramic view, but there are moments when you’ll find yourself totally awestruck a lot closer to your subject. Wandering around Circular Quay, you’ll be treated with some of the best views in Sydney of the Opera House itself.

Also, speaking of unmissable experiences, make sure to catch a performance, too.

5) Royal Botanical Gardens

Sydney Opera House from the Royal Botanic Gardens

If you want a great shot of Sydney Opera House from a distance, the Botanic Gardens has one of the best views in Sydney.

The view of the world-famous Opera House, framed by the plant life of the gardens is totally gorgeous.

It’s the perfect place to take a moment to relax and really soak up that Sydney sunshine, too.

6) Sydney Tower Eye

Best Views in Sydney- Sydney Tower Eye

For a fantastic aerial view of the city, you can’t beat the Sydney Tower Eye. It’s one of the highest and best views in Sydney from high above.

Sydney's Best Bars & Restaurants

With its glass-floor Skywalk 286 metres above the ground, you can look directly down at the bustling streets and the city’s main attractions, too.

7) Sydney Taronga Zoo

Views of Sydney Harbour from Sydney Taronga Zoo

Sydney Taronga Zoo is located in Mosman and offers some of the best views in Sydney. As you walk through the park you won’t be able to help but stare in awe at the incredible backdrop of the Sydney Harbour. The giraffes are so lucky!

Be sure to check out my other post- 7 Things You Need to Know About Visiting Sydney Taronga Zoo before you go!

8) Bondi to Coogee Coastal Walk

Bondi to Coogee Coastal Walk

The infamous coastline from Bondi to Coogee is very popular with both locals and tourists and the coastal views are some of the best views in Sydney.

This amazing costal walk is 6km and will take about 2 hours to complete, but I’d give a good 3 hours (4 if you are stopping at a cafe to refuel) so you can take photos along the way.

Bondi Icebergs, Best Views in Sydney

You will encounter stunning ocean views, ocean pools, a historic cemetery, Australian wildlife (if you’re lucky you may even spot a whale or two!) and stunning oceanfront mansions. Make sure you also spend some time at the iconic Bondi Beach and the Bondi Icebergs.

9) Echo Point, Blue Mountains

Three Sisters Blue Mountains

Viewing the Three Sisters from Echo Point is iconic, making it an extremely popular and very busy spot to visit. However, not seeing the Three Sisters when visiting the Blue Mountains would be like not seeing the Eiffel Tower on a trip to Paris. I wouldn’t go there again and again, but I’d recommend seeing it at least once.

Blue Mountains Weekend Getaway

Some of the best views in Sydney are right in the heart of the Blue Mountains so be sure to check out my detailed itinerary on How to Spend the Ultimate Blue Mountains Weekend Getaway

10) Chinese Garden of Friendship

The Chinese Garden of Friendship is a heritage-listed 1.03-hectare Chinese garden nestled at the south end of Darling harbour and a short walk from Chinatown.

The garden combines the elements of water, plants, stone and architecture.
Running water, towering willow trees, cool lagoons with lotus plants and large colourful fish all make this an idyllic spot to read a book or recharge your batteries. It really is something special. The garden features waterfalls, lakes, pavilions, sculptures and local wildlife such as the water dragon, koi carp and several species of birds.

Another option is the Sydney Airport Link Train, which takes 15 minutes and costs around $17. You have the option to purchase an Opal Card which you can continue to top up and use to access public transport during your stay in Sydney which also works on buses, light rail and ferries.
