Working from home

We’re barely halfway through the year 2020 and I’m already counting down the days to 2021. I don’t know how you’re feeling, but I’m already starting to feel the itch of the travel bug! However, the world is staying home to keep all our loved ones safe and we’re all doing our bit to help flatten the curve of COVID-19. So while we stay home and keep safe, here are a few ideas of how you can travel the world without leaving your home!

Compile Your Travel Photos + Make Albums

Have you been putting off printing those travel photos for those frames collecting dust in the cupboard? There isn’t any better time than now to sort through all your photos and get those bare looking walls in your home looking more colourful! Or you can compile your travel photos like I did on Mixbook and create albums categorised in all the different places you’ve explored!

Plan your next (Domestic) Holiday

International travel may not look like an option in the near future, however domestic travel restrictions will soon start to ease and things will start getting back to normal. So take that free time you have now and start planning for that trip you’ve been saying you want to take since forever. Some places on my list to see is Ayers Rock in Uluru, NT, the Whitsundays, QLD and a cosy winter escape in the Blue Mountains, NSW.

Taronga Western Plains Zoo, Zoofari Lodge

You may not be able to take that African Safari trip just yet but you can get close- without leaving Australia! Stay in a luxurious Zoofari Lodge at Taronga Western Plains Zoo in Dubbo!

Sunset at the 12 Apostles

Plan a road trip and take in the sight of one of the most beautiful natural landmarks in Australia. Here’s my guide to visiting the 12 Apostles.

Cook a meal from your favourite Cuisine

Bring the world to your kitchen through the delicious art of cooking! I’m a sucker for traditional Croatian meals, something I was very lucky to grow up learning. And who doesn’t love a traditional Italian pasta or pizza? Yum! But why not try to learn something new? Perhaps a Mexican night? Or Thai night? The options are endless!

Visit a Museum – Virtually!

In the world of technology we can take a stroll through some of the most amazing places in the world right from the very comfort of your couch! Want to go to the Louvre in Paris? Or maybe explore Anne Frank’s House? Take a look at Michelangelo’s ceiling in the Sistine Chapel or visit the NASA Langley Research Centre. Let your imagination take you on a journey and see what other places around the world you can explore!

Watch a Travel Film

One of my favourite ways to wanderlust is to watch a travel film and transport myself into another place. Some of my top favourites include Eat Pray Love, The Beach and 7 Years in Tibet.

See all your favourite animals at the Zoo

Taronga Zoo are doing their part to help you stay home and stay safe. See what the animals are getting up to on Taronga TV via the live cams set up around all the different animals enclosures. You can watch tigers, elephants, seals and much much more!

Watch the Northern Lights

Seeing the Northern Lights is something you can tick off the bucket-list without even leaving your home! Explore.org have set up live cams around the world with an endless array of options to watch, including the beautiful Aurora Borealis.
