Here is the Ultimate Singapore Bucket List:
Explore the Marina Bay Area
Marina Bay doesn’t just have an iconic hotel with the world’s largest infinity pool. There is so much to do here!
– Shop at The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands
The Shoppes are grand and utmost luxurious! In fact this is Southeast Asia’s largest collection of luxury fashion, watch and jewellery brands, as well as exclusive emerging labels and children’s collections. From Chanel to Gucci, you will find any designer brand you’re looking for so do expect to pay a pretty penny here.
– Watch the Marina Bay Light Shows
Not only famous in Singapore but one of the most famous light shows in the world! The Marina Bay Light show is best seen from the deck in front of The Shoppes. Or like me you can look down on it from the Marina Bay Sands Infinity pool above!
When: Everyday! Monday – Sunday 8pm & 9pm / Friday – Saturday 8pm, 9pm & 10pm. Duration: 15 Minutes.
– Swim in the Marina Bay Sands Infinity Pool
Not only do you get to dip your toes into the world’s largest infinity pool, but there are epic city views that await! Alas, you can only tick this one off your Singapore Bucket List if you are staying at the hotel as a guest, but at least you will also get to say you have stayed at one of the world’s most iconic hotels!
Travel Tip: Not staying at the Marina Bay Sands hotel but still want an epic view? You can purchase tickets to the Marina Bay Sands SkyPark Observation Deck up to one month in advance.
Bonus- There is also a Casino inside Marina Bay Sands with free entry for tourists as long as you have your passport!
– See the Merlion at Merlion Park
The Merlion is a very important and very popular statue in Singapore. The Merlion’s body symbolises Singapore’s humble beginnings as a fishing village when it was called Temasek. Its head represents Singapore’s original name, Singapura, or ‘lion city’.
It’s a worthy trip to see the famous Merlion along with the beautiful views of Marina Bay Sands across the water.
– Ride the Singapore Flyer
There is only one place in Singapore that offers a bird’s eye view of the entire island city- the Singapore Flyer. Standing at 165m high, it is Asia’s largest giant observation wheel.
Discover Multicultural Singapore
– Scope out Chinatown
Chinatown’s maze of narrow roads is a gold mine of Chinese heritage with restaurants serving traditional fare like Hainanese chicken rice, noodles and satay. A vast array of souvenir shops and indie boutiques are spread around the area, offering clothes, crafts and antiques, while Club Street is full of trendy wine bars.
Singapore’s Chinatown is the only one in the world to have a Buddhist temple, a Mosque and a Hindu temple along a single street!
Be sure to cross off the 1827 Sri Mariamman Temple and the ornate Buddha Tooth Relic Temple and Museum from your Ultimate Singapore Bucket List while you’re here. (More on the Mosque later.)
– Eat Delicious Food at a Hawker Centre
Maxwell Food Centre is definitely one of the best places to eat in Chinatown Singapore, and is full of delicious local cuisines as well as other worldly delights at cheap prices! A must do on your Singapore Bucket List!
Maxwell Road Hawker Centre is situated just a walking distance from Chinatown and comes highly recommended by yours truly.
Try the Tian Tian Hainanese Chicken Rice– for perfect cooked chicken and the most fragrant rice your tongue will taste. Also, the Crispy Duck & Pork with noodles at Stall 71 was probably one of the best meals I’ve ever had!
Other popular Hawker Centres include: La Pu Sat Hawker Centre and Chinatown’s Food Centre– the largest hawker centre in Singapore with over 260 food stalls, also boosting the world’s first Michelin hawker stall.
– Visit Kampong Glam
Centred on busy Arab Street, Kampong Glam is known as Singapore’s Muslim Quarter. There are stores selling textiles and casual restaurants serving spicy Malay. Clothing boutiques, street art and trendy cafes line the popular Haji Lane. Whilst you’re here be sure to visit the impressive Sultan Mosque, also known as Masjid Sultan.
– Wander Through Little India
Add a splash of colour in to your day by visiting the busy streets of Little India.
Fill up on hearty curries and explore the large array of malls, jewellery stores and tailor shops.
It also makes for some awesome photography spots, for those looking to up their Instagram game.
Visit Gardens by the Bay
Singapore is well-known for its love of nature and its efforts to maintain a beautiful, clean city. Gardens By the Bay is a must on your Singapore Bucket List. If you’re looking for things to do in Singapore on a budget then this is definitely the one for you as entrance to the famous Gardens by the Bay is FREE! This place will show you how each conservatory encompasses Singapore’s goal to build a City in a Garden and promote saving the environment. You can also see my complete guide on Visiting Gardens by the Bay for more detailed info.
– The Supertree Grove
Admiring the Supertrees throughout Gardens by the Bay is completely free.
However, you do have the option to get up close and personal with the Supertrees by purchasing tickets to the OCBC Skyway for $8SGD. I would suggest coming around sunset to catch the evening light show and watch as the trees come alive from above! (Every evening at 7.45pm and 8.45pm)
– Flower Dome
Escape the humidity and enter the Flower Dome, where you’ll find yourself inside a greenhouse filled with plants similar to those found in cool-dry climates such as South Africa and California. Listed as the largest glass greenhouse in the world in the 2015 Guinness World Records, the Flower Dome at Gardens By The Bay covers over 1.2 hectares of ground.
– Cloud Forest
Located directly next door to the Flower Dome, the Cloud Forest is a 35-metre tall mountain, covered in lush vegetation and boasting the world’s tallest indoor waterfall. Here you’ll enter a more mysterious world than that of the Flower Dome, as the Cloud Forest creates a misty atmosphere for you to explore amongst.
A ticket to visit 2 of the “Cooled Conservatories” cost $28SGD.

Sip on a Singapore Sling at the Long Bar (Raffles Hotel)
I can’t help but get a little bit excited when I talk about my experience at Raffles Hotel.
If you’ve got anything to cross off your Ultimate Singapore Bucket list, you must try the Singapore Sling! The Long Bar is located on the first floor of the legendary Raffles Hotel and is known as the birthplace of the world-famous cocktail. An exotic concoction with over 100 years of history, the Singapore Sling is a gin-based drink that was created by a bartender of the Raffles Hotel circa 1915. Although the pretty pink drink will set you back $27SGD, you’ll enjoy sipping on your cocktail and tossing peanut shells on the floor as you immerse yourself in a bit of Singaporean history.
Inspired by Malayan plantation life, this building has incredibly beautiful architecture and the atmosphere is really upbeat and fun.
See all the animals at Singapore Zoo
The Singapore Zoo is a big complex with 4 options that you can choose from:
- Singapore Zoo – you will see more than 2,800 animals representing over 300 species of mammals, birds, and reptiles. One of the highlights of my day was paying just $5SGD to feed the beautiful Asian Elephants!
- Night Safari – here you can see over 1,000 animals in their natural nighttime habitat in an open free range park. The Zoo includes a ticket for a 45 min tram ride around the entire park where you’ll be driven right next to wildlife with accompanying educational commentary.
- River Safari – one of the world’s largest collections of freshwater fauna, housing more than 6,000 animals including 40 threatened species. Look forward to riding the Amazon River Quest and the Reservoir Cruise.
- Jurong Birds Park – it hosts 5,000 birds from 400 species and it is actually one of the largest free-flying aviaries in the world! This one is located in another location to the above 3.
Of course, you can visit all of them if you have time. I was able to explore Singapore Zoo, River Safari and Night Safari all in the one day and I had an incredible time! A definite must on your Ultimate Singapore Bucketlist!
