🗼Tokyo
Tokyo is where most trips begin — a mix of neon lights, incredible food, and endless things to do.
From Shibuya Crossing to hidden bars, there’s something on every corner.
⛩️ Kyoto
Kyoto is the cultural heart of Japan — known for temples, shrines, and traditional experiences.
Think bamboo forests, geisha districts, and peaceful garden walks.
🍜 Osaka
Osaka is all about food, nightlife, and a more laid-back vibe.
It’s one of the best places in Japan for street food and local experiences.
🕊️ Hiroshima
Hiroshima offers a powerful blend of history and resilience, centred around the Peace Memorial Park.
Nearby, Miyajima Island adds a peaceful escape.
🌿 Koyasan
One of the most unique experiences in Japan — staying overnight in a Buddhist temple surrounded by mountains.
Peaceful, immersive and completely serene.
♨️ Experience a Ryokan
Experience traditional Japanese hospitality – from tatami rooms to kaiseki dining and onsen baths.
💡 Japan Travel Tips You Need to Know
Japan is one of the easiest countries to travel — but there are a few things that will make your trip so much smoother:
• 🚄 Trains are incredibly efficient but can feel overwhelming at first – use Google Maps, it works perfectly in Japan
• 💴 Cash is still widely used — don’t rely on card everywhere
• 📱 Get an eSIM before you arrive to stay connected as soon as you land
• 🗣️ English isn’t always spoken — but signage is very helpful and easy to follow
• 🧼 Etiquette matters (quiet trains, no eating while walking, respect in temples)
• 👞 Wear comfortable shoes – you’ll be walking way more than you expect
This Japan travel guide is designed to help you avoid common mistakes and travel with confidence.
💰 How Much Does a Trip to Japan Cost?
One of the biggest questions when planning a trip is cost.
Japan can be:
• Budget-friendly if you plan well
• Mid-range for most travellers
• Or luxury depending on your stays and experiences
Your biggest expenses will usually be:
• Flights
• Accommodation
• Transport (especially trains)

🚄 Getting Around Japan
Transport in Japan is one of the best in the world — but understanding it beforehand will save you time and money.
• The JR Pass can be worth it (but not always)
• Local trains are easy once you understand the system
• Google Maps works incredibly well in Japan

🎌 Best Time to Visit Japan
Japan is a year-round destination, but each season offers something different:
• 🌸 Spring (March–May): Cherry blossom season
• 🍁 Autumn (Oct–Nov): Fall colours + perfect weather
• ☀️ Summer: Festivals + fireworks (but hot & humid)
• ❄️ Winter: Snow, onsens, and fewer crowds
There’s no “bad” time — it just depends on what you want from your trip.
🎟️ Plan Your Japan Trip
Here are the tools I personally use and trust when travelling Japan:
✈️ Flights
Find the best flight deals to Japan with easy comparisons
🏨 Accommodation
Find hotels, ryokans, and unique stays across Japan
📱 eSIM
Stay connected as soon as you land in Japan
🎟️ Activities
Book popular experiences, tours and tickets in advance to save time
Pro Tip: I recommend booking your accommodation and key experiences in advance – especially during cherry blossom and autumn seasons, as things sell out quickly.

❓ Japan Travel FAQ
Is 2 weeks enough for Japan?
Yes — 2 weeks is the perfect amount of time to see multiple cities without rushing. It allows you to visit places like Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka and even Hiroshima while still having time to enjoy each destination
Is Japan expensive?
Japan can be as expensive or affordable as you make it. While flights and transport can add up, food, convenience stores and many experiences are surprisingly affordable.
Do I need the JR Pass?
Not always — it depends on your itinerary. The JR Pass can be worth it if you’re travelling between multiple cities, but it dpeends on your itinerary. I break this down in detail in my transport guide.
Is Japan easy for first-time travellers?
Yes — Japan is one of the safest and most organised countries to visit. Public transport is reliable and signage is very clear even if you don’t speak Japanese.
