I have a big appreciation for food & wine and I especially love to try new things when I travel. I experienced so much great food and wine in NZ that I decided why not share my experience with you! Here are my food & wine highlights on my trip in the South Island of New Zealand.
Fergburger, Queenstown
If you love your burgers then Fergburger is really the one you want to be having! You really can’t miss it. There is usually a long line of people waiting outside, it’s always busy and it’s considered to be one of the top 10 Best Burgers in the World!
With a decent menu of options, you will have plenty of time deciding which one to order as you queue outside. However, a local tip I heard was that you can ring the shop in advance to order your burger, avoiding the queue!
I’m really tempted to fly back out to Queenstown just to have another taste!
Fiddlesticks Restaurant & Bar, Christchurch
Conveniently located in the heart of Christchurch with an inviting atmosphere, these guys cook their meat to perfection! My lamb cutlets were tender and just red enough in the middle and Pete’s slow cooked beef cheeks were melting in the mouth. (Of course I tried his dish as well!) There is a huge selection of wines and even a variety of NZ Boutique Brews you can try on their menu.
Terra Viva Cafe & Deli, Christchurch
Don’t pass by this award winning cafe. Situated close to the Airport and Orana Wildlife Park we took the opportunity to try it out for breakfast. No regrets here! The food was delicious and we sat next to a warm and cosy fireplace which added a really nice touch to our morning.
Queenstown Wine Trail
I love wine! Which is why I couldn’t pass up an opportunity for a Wine Tour. I booked with Queenstown Wine Trail on the ‘Original Tour’ which included tastings at 3 different wineries and an Underground Wine Cave Tour! It was a really beautiful day out with amazing scenery and great wine.
